i understand that we have to literally
start from the bottom to get to the top.
what i didn't know was how crappy
the bottom actually was. :(
one thing about myself is that, i know i
have the potential and heart to do what i really
want and love to do.
again and again i bring it up because to this day
i still can't overcome the fear and nervousness
of taking the leap.
what if the odds aren't in my favor?
i think the word i'm looking for is safe. yeah,
i like to know that i'm going to be safe.
struggling is a really touchy subject for me.
sometimes struggling gets you where you want to
be, but i can't do it. it's too scary.
i always ask for signs. but either i'm not looking
hard enough or i'm really being punished.
maybe i'll get where i need to be. and go where
i'm meant to go. someday.
i'll take the leap of faith. someday.

will you be my bridesmaid cards
[wedding diy]
i've been slowly working on wedding
related items. everyone who knows me
knows that i'm pretty crafty and whatnot.
i started researching different and
creative ways to ask my girls to be my
bridesmaids. i found these cute little
dress-shaped cards [many different kinds]
asking to be your bridesmaid on etsy.com,
i loved them, they were cheap
[around $3.00] and had a simple classic look.
i almost put in an order for them, then realized
1. i had all the supplies to make them, and
2. i really could make them. so easily! [lol]
here's how:
i needed a dress template for the cards.
i searched on google 'black dress template'
and found this:
i then copied this template on cardstock
in one of my wedding colors, so that way
i just cut out the little dresses.
i wanted it to look 'fun' so i added the ribbon
and drew a little bow at the sweetheart plunge.
then the girls names of course!
here's the end result!
i made four of them, but i gave them away
before i took a damn photo of them all together!
[tina is my older sister].
[bridesmaids are my two older sisters
and my two younger cousins].

date nights in a jar [may]
hello, hello!
here's your monthly scoop of
date nights in a jar for may!
[i'm one week late because i wanted
to post about the big hair ball during
the same weekend, so sorry!]
1. skywalks
one thing about des moines that i love,
even though, yes it is tiny. is downtown.
i love how all the buildings are connected by
skywalks, so chris and i decided to
walk through them.
2. his choice for anything
chris and i kind of did this last minute. lol!
we went to a small restaurant called bianci boys
pizza and pasta. then went to the casino,
prairie meadows. no, we didn't win big. :(
3. jump on trampolines
i heard about this place called skyzone from a
friend. it's a huge trampoline place with a foam pit,
basketball hoops and a big jumping arena. [they
even have dodgeball tournaments!] chris and i
had a blast. we were so tired by the end of the day!
4. dirty dice
chris and i bought a dirty dice pack at spencers.
let's just leave it at fun, interesting and sexy.
5. video game day
chris knew what he wanted to play since he loves
his games. we decided on a wii game since we haven't
used it in a while. we played warioware: smooth moves
and dead space: extraction.

big hair ball 2013
the big hair ball is, obviously,
what it sounds like. but not so much a ball.
[to me and chris, anyway].
to me it was a house party/soiree type event.
it was mingling. it was snacks and drinks.
the highlight of the night was the
show, which was the reason for the whole night,
showcasing all the crazy big hair local salons came up with.
the theme was
masquerade: a forbidden fairytale.
it was an okay experience. it was very crowded,
the art center is a little too small for such
a big event. not a lot of people were wearing masks,
or in on the 'forbidden fairytale' theme.
it takes away from all the fun of 'ball' feel
that i really wanted.
chris and i were also vip's and all we got were
a small bag of shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray.
the plus was guaranteed front seating at the show and a
$20.00 gift certificate to aveda.
overall, it was fun to get out and do something
but, i wish it went more with the theme of the title.
