it's the last day of 2013. time really did fly by.
can it be 2014 already? i'm so ready to start fresh!
while this past year wasn't a total bust,
it wasn't my finest year either.
a few unfortunate things happened
throughout this year that i would rather not
have happen again. it's so stressful just
thinking about it all!
on a positive note, all the bad things that
have happened has fueled me to bring in 2014
stronger. no, i'm not making promises.
promises are always broken because we try too
hard to fulfill them and stress
ourselves out over trying to fulfill them.
but i will do everything to
the best of my ability.
i'm trying to change my lifestyle for the better.
it wasn't just 2013 that i've made my share of mistakes.
i realize that i'm not getting younger.
i can attempt to fix all the flaws in my life.
and you know the saying, 'better late, then never.'
bring it on 2014. bring it on.

date nights in a jar
[comes to an end] :(
sadly, date nights in a jar has
officially come to an end. [well,
in november it did] i think i'm most
sad because we almost made it
one full year, just 2 more months.
it's not that we wanted the date
nights to end. it's just that we've gotten
so busy with the holidays and chris
starting his new job, that the time for it
just wasn't there anymore.
i've mentioned it before but in 2014, we
are going to start one event a month. we've done
this in 2012 and it was just as fun.
going to plays, concerts, etc!

excuses
with the new year coming up, i've decided
to make a few changes within my life.
no more excuses. i know that it's typical,
kind of like new years resolutions. it's a bit
more personal than that now.
it's to make me the best me that i can be.
take care of me first. and various
other things. [i won't list them until they
have been accomplished. that way
i will not be discouraged.]
i'm not promising that i will succeed in
any way . but this time i'm going to do
everything to the best of my ability.

same concept, new design
a few weeks ago, [29 october 2011] to
be exact, marked my first blog post
on this blogging website.
it's been two years of growth for me.
two years of some horrible writing.
two years of emotional writing, just to clear my head.
two years of understanding myself. and opening
up to the world. even if no one really reads this.
cheers to building a better me through writing.
cheers to more years of writing.
whether you just stopped by today or read
my blog occasionally. thanks.
with this wonderful celebration, comes a new
look for my blog. same concept, new design.
[i liked the layout of my recent blog design,
so i kept it the same :) !]
hope you all love it as much as i do!

date nights in a jar [october]
posting this one a little bit later
than i usually do. but at least i'm posting it! :]
1. fondue and romantic movies
chris has never really had fondue! can you
believe such a thing! i kind of ruined
the experience though. i made the fondue on the
stovetop and we dipped the bread in it
with our fingers. lol!
i chose this yummy recipe, click the link: Fondue Recipe
the movie we chose was safe haven on netflix.
it was a pretty good book-to-film transition
compared to all other nicholas sparks films.
2. dress up and go somewhere nice
it's not to often that we take our time and
look fabulous for no reason! it's fun to be spontaneous
like that. so, we went to a newer restaurant
called americana. it's a bit more upscale, but casual.
it was a great choice that's for sure!
we had roasted chicken, and steak that chris
actually ate with seasoning! *shocked* he usually
just covers it in a1 sauce!
3. shopping spree
although we spent a little bit of money, i found
this date night was fun. we haven't been to the mall
in a few weeks. it was nice to walk around
enjoying each others company.
4. her choice anything
my choice anything! finally! [i picked the 'his
choice anything' stick in early may!] lol!
i chose dinner and a movie. typical, yes. but we haven't
been to a movie in a real long time. and also haven't
done the dinner/movie combo in longer time!
we went to chef's kitchen, we both have never been
there. and watched the movie captain phillips,
chris' dad told him it was a great movie. he wasn't wrong.
two more months left until date nights in a jar 2013
will come to an end :[ it's so sad, it was so fun!
but come 2014, and chris and i agreed to do [attend one
event a month] in which we did in 2012, it was

wonder woman tutu diy
as promised, here is part two of
[project bling #37]. how to make a wonder
woman tutu.
i understand it's fairly simple and not rocket
science, but i wanted to show the products
i used. i was pretty confused
when i was looking it up, there were so
many options that others were doing.
so now, i give you, a pain-free
inexpensive costume diy, that'll hopefully answer
some of the questions you have like i did
this is the star template for the tutu.
search in google 'star template' and choose
which size you would like to use. i chose
a smaller size because my tutu was small.
i traced the template on scratch paper [go green!]
and cut it out, so that i could
trace it on the felt paper.
i had a hard time trying to figure out what
other people were using for the stars on the
tutu. i tried to googled it, and felt paper rarely came
up. but it was the only thing i could think of.
the results from google were, iron-ons
[can't iron-on because the tulle will melt],
glued paper [um, no. that's just tacky],
and regular stickers [i couldn't find white star
stickers to save my life!]. but i got lucky and
happened upon exactly what i was looking for.
i went to joann craft stores on a mission
to find regular felt, lucky me, right below
the 'regular' felt was sticky back felt
called presto felt [shown above]. it was perfect!
call me crazy but i didn't know it existed!
now you can use your star template that
you traced and cut out and start tracing the
stars onto the felt. trace on the back of
the felt, the smooth side not the felt side.
more cutting. i cut out at least 35 stars
for my tutu to be covered how i wanted it to be.
but it was a fluffy tutu!.
it's kind of hard to see, but here are the
finished felt stars all cut out.
here's the untouched tutu, before sticking all
the felt stars on it.
i didn't make this tutu. i purchased
it at a halloween store. i did however, want
to make my own, but due to timing issues i
could not.
and we are done! you can stick however
many you want on the tutu to your liking.
mine does look excessive but when worn and
fluffed it was perfect! [see it on me in the
previous post, (project bling #37) at the bottom.

project bling #37
this is a bit of a project bling
photo walkthrough mixed with my halloween
costume for this year. [2013]
this is the original costume i bought from
spirit halloween. i felt that it wasn't
really me after i got it home. i didn't like
the tutu and the top was too plain for me.
here i redid the corset and the tutu.
the very last picture shows the tutu that i remade.
[tutorial for the tutu coming up next!]
since halloween stores don't allow returns, i
decided to take matters into my own hands and
put my skills to use.
the original logo
putting rhinestones on the ww.
the logo itself took me 54 minutes.
now onto the body of the corset
the start of the corset. i decided to
bling the costume last minute and also ordered
the rhinestones from china so it took about
a week to receive. so i didn't bling the whole
costume due to timing.
almost done, two more panels left.
finally it's finished! the corset took me about
2 hours and 19 minutes to complete!
so overall 3 hours and 15 minutes. all together.
here's the end result! my fiancé
and i as wonder woman and the flash.
we don't even really like dc. dc < marvel. we finally matched! nerds!

collection: kid robot yummy desserts keychains
there are many things i collect and
i have been meaning to share a few of them with
all of you. [if you go to my posts from february
this year, i shared my newly growing
victoria beckham magazine
collection. it's not too big yet, i just started!
i love her! she's my idol!]
another item i collect is the kid robot
yummy dessert keychains. i'm a sucker for
inanimate objects with faces! lol! it's
probably the whole blind box thing that makes
it fun. you just never know what will be
in that box! will you get something new?
or something you already have? such a mystery!
here's a animated picture of the entire
collection taken from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk:
i have them all except for:
1. orange popsicle
2. red caramel apple
3. chocolate bundt cake
4. icing bundt cake
5. chocolate rainbow cake
me and my darn unfinished collections! lol!
only five more left! yes!

date nights in a jar [september]
i'm still falling behind with these
darn blog posts! arghhhh!
1. check out art galleries
i live in des moines... there isn't much
art to find here. chris and i went to
the local art center. it was
interesting to say the least
because we both had never been there.
we saw an andy warhol and a picasso.
that was cool.
2. go see some live entertainment
the beaverdale fall festival was going on
during this chosen stick, so we ventured there.
it was a small neighborhood festival,
so it was tiny. it was kind of nice seeing
local businesses and performers come together.
3. go to a coffeeshop and study
we've never been to zanzibar's coffee adventure,
and we love adventure! so, we trekked our way
there and the coffee was good.
it was a small and crowded place, though.
that i did not like. we didn't really study
since chris finished school.
just sat and talked and enjoyed each others company.
4. spoil your dog date
oh our little puppy charlee! she's been cooped
up in the house so it was fitting we spoil her!
we took her to petco and petsmart. she got
some new clothes and some toys! i wanted to
take her for a walk, but it was all raining
and cold and wet that day. :[
see you again next month!

battling dark demons
we all have demons.
many different types of them.
the worst part is, we create them on our own.
hoping someone will help fight the battle
with you. these are the kinds that we
need to fend off on our own.
its been years of battling for me.
the only way i can defeat the cycle is to
shed some light on the issues.
i have to deal with my indecisions.
i'm never quite sure. and that's the problem.
round and round in circles. never-ending.
demons swirling past, like a shadow hanging
over me. theres a rain cloud following me.
i need to find the light.
i need some one to shield me from the rain.
i'm always safe. i'm too cautious.
to some that's a good thing.
sometimes it brings too much fear.
causing more depression. causing more pain.
causing anxiety.
i sort of know what i want in life.
but i'm too lazy/scared/unsure of how
to get to that point. that point, that push
to throw me over is nerve-wracking to think
about. so i push it away.
i can't deal with nervousness very well.
support. i've never been the one who liked
recognition, that's too much unnecessary attention.
i am only human, though. i need support.
in my personal life, jobs and school were hard on
us. we didn't give each other the support we needed.
in my professional life, round and round the
demons swirl faster and faster.
i'm not good enough there. i work so hard and
i'm not treated as an equal.
one by one is how i handle it. day by day.
breath after slow drawn breath.
i'm trying everyday to hold my torch up high.
i'm fighting.

life before you
you mean so much to me, i'm just
terrible at expressing that kind of thing.
i always imagined myself as romantic.
guess i overestimated myself.
life wasn't the same when you walked in.
it really was like seeing colors for the
first time. breathing a crisp clean air.
i don't regret the life i've lived so far,
but i'm so much happier now than i was then.
it's hard to tell i know.
who knew relationships were such work?
i didn't date much when i was younger.
the only time i truly remember even liking
boys was during middle school. even then,
it wasn't serious.
i was never the pretty one in my group
of friends, ever. middle school or high school.
i'm not of great looks even on my own. just
average i would say. so it wasn't like dudes
were knocking on my door either.
dating to me was a serious thing from the
beginning. my parents stayed together. and by
the time i realized i did want someone, my
two older sisters were already in relationships.
as far-fetched as it sounds, i wanted
mr. right on the first try because my parents
and my sisters had that.
lucky me i did get it. you.
who would've thought that i would find someone
so unselfish in a relationship. so willing
to make me happy first.
i don't want the life i had before you.
i want now. i want forever.
'now you're here and everything's changing, and
suddenly life means so much. i can't wait to
wake up tomorrow, and find out this promise is
true. i will never have to go back to... the
day before you.'

date nights in a jar [august]
i've been falling off the mark with these
blog posts! there's always so much to do!
here are chris and i's date nights in a jar
for the month of august!
[those darn purple sticks! :( ]
1. go out for frozen yogurt
we decided on orange leaf because i
have one of those ounce back cards there.
and now here in des moines there are too
many different kinds of fro-yo!
2. go for a walk
this stick was chosen when the iowa state
fair was in town. and as everyone knows
you walk and walk and walk! so, we walked
around the fair and ate tons of things
that we knew we shouldn't have!
3. all things vietnamese date
we love our vietnamese food! but we both
agreed on adong restaurant because, we both
have been there before but not together
and a really long time ago. it was a great
choice! yummy yummy!
4. theme dinner night
football season just got here! we made
hot dogs and ate nachos for stadium-like
food, and for dessert i made cookies in
football, helmets, and trophy shapes!
5. skipped this weeks date night
it's ironic because the last week of
august, we flew to miami and the stick
i chose was 'make a sand castle.' we
totally forgot about it because the
vacation was more for relaxation!
until next month! see you later!

birthday vacation!
my [omg!] 25th birthday was this
last saturday. august 31st.
chris surprised me with a trip to
miami beach! he's the bestest!
yes, i was shocked! because
a] i was not prepared, b] we said no
vacations this year because we wanted to
save for the honeymoon, and c] i dislike
planes and airports and all that so yes
i was very shocked!
it was a short vacation for us just from
thursday to sunday. we didn't take
too many pictures. chris and i really
wanted to relax.
we spent most of the time on the beach.
it was so hot! we though iowa was hot and now it's
really nothing compared to miami! chris is
all burnt up! lol!
we walked pretty much everywhere! went shopping
on/at the lincoln road mall. ate everything too!
it was a last minute decision, but we also went
to the miami seaquarium. we took a taxi, it
was about 25 minutes away from where we stayed.
[it was a whole other island!] this was a really
cool aquarium, although i thought it was a
bit too small. oh well.
we got to see crocodiles. 2 dolphin shows.
and a killer whale show. all the shows were pretty cool.
the killer whale show was pretty awesome.
we were so stupid, we sat pretty close to the tank
and we were drenched by the time we left!
all in all, chris and i needed some relaxation time.
and that's exactly what we got. ;]
here we are sunbathing on miami beach.
we spotted this food truck on the beach and
decided to try it. it was delicious!

iowa state fair 2013
sorry i haven't been blogging a lot
lately, [i missed two weeks of
blogging :X ] so much has been going on
with me and my life!
let's have a little chat about
this past last week.
the iowa state fair 2013 has officially
come and gone. i can't say that i love
it but i can't say that i hate it because
i love the food but i hate it being so
crowded. but yes, the food is really all
i care about.
i feel terrible because i haven't taken
any pictures or anything, i have no proof.
[i need to make this a habit.]
on my food journey, i had my favorite hot
beef sundae and pineapple whip! i'm not a huge
fan of corn dogs but i knew i had to eat
one. i also ate a turkey leg, blooming onion,
caramel apple funnel cake, walking taco
and drank some lemonade!
the caramel apple funnel cake was new
for this year. it was pretty delicious!
it tasted somewhere in between a
cinnamon bun and a freshly baked cake.
i might've gain a pound or two!
i have almost one whole year to shed it all,
just to gobble up all the fair food again. :]

date nights in a jar [july]
hello hello!
july has come to an end, so
once again, here are our date
nights for july! yippee!
1. explore the east village
this is a cute little vintage-y
town in our downtown district with
small local shops. we stopped at a
dog shoppe called jett and monkey's.
clothing stores called aimee,
village boutique, and peep toe.
2. donut date
chris and i had a hard time with this one,
we tried to go anywhere but krispy kreme
and ended up right at krispy kreme!
everywhere we tried was closed! anyway,
we got our dozen donuts plus 4 free! win!
3. skipped this one
[we were too busy] :( [we do one date night a
week every month]
4. explore west glen
west glen wasn't as big as we thought it
was. we went to a few boutiques one was called
mint la where i scored a cute neon dress
and a scarf. and the other was called bella
boutique where i scored another cute black dress!
until next month, stay tuned!

nkotb, 98 degrees, and boyziimen concerto!
this past weekend chris, my sister,
and my brother-in-law all packed up and
went to minnesota for 1 night and 2 days.
the whole trip was for the new kids on
the block package tour with guests
98 degrees and boyziimen. chris and i
were excited about boyziimen. my sister was
the nkotb fan, lol!
it was a good show, but i could hardly see
because the ladies in front of us were dancing
their butts off! drunk hot messes!
here's some photos. [they used so much fog it
was so hard to see anything! i'm listing the
pictures in the order they performed.]
this is boyiimen
this is 98 degrees
and the headliners, new kids on the block!
we also went to the mall of america. it's been
awhile since i've been there, it was fun but
i did feel a bit rushed and i wanted to take my time.
it's okay i got some cute tops anyway! and chris
scored some jordan retro 8's. :]
afterward we went to ikea... it wasn't really
what i remembered it to be. but it was cool anyway.
on the last morning we were there, we went to the
hmong village. it was in a warehouse with no signs.
my first thought was... where did my sister take us?
it was pretty cool and the food smelled amazing!
i wasn't hungry at the time so we didn't stop and eat.
maybe next time.

"time is of the essence"
as some people say, time is of the essence.
i've never really understood the true
meaning, until now. it's always those real
life experiences that open your eyes.
at my old job i got off right at 3:00pm and i
loved it, more time during the day and to
get my chores done. my commute to work
was only twenty minutes. it was perfect.
now, i'm at a new place and it's 7:30am to
5:00pm with a 40 minute commute. getting
home close to 6:00pm has really been hard for me.
what with doing wedding stuff, cooking dinner,
and my fiancé's bedtime being 9:00pm [he works
night shifts].
i feel there's no time for anything.
i've started planning out the week and days
to make things easier and less time wasted,
in which it does help but it's still hard to deal with.
time is literally slipping out of my hands.
i'm grabbing at empty air to try to get it back.

date nights in a jar [june]
let's get in our june fix!
1. plant something together
chris and i purchased dwarf sunflower
seeds and small vases at target in
the $1.00 area. it's been about three
weeks and they are still growing.
2. do puzzles together
we got lucky on this one, we bought a cool
disney puzzle months ago and never got
around to doing it. now it's been done!
3. play 20 questions together
this was very interesting for us both... we
didn't really know what to ask each other so
we just searched online and chose some random
questions and made some ourselves. we've
been together for 6.5 years... but it was
still interesting!
4. birdwatch with binoculars
this one was kind of a bust! lol! chris and
i went to water works park, in the big open
field with trees. it was hard to find birds for
one... but we got so bit up by mosquitoes!
so we just left. we saw a goldfinch, eagle,
cardinal and of course robins!
until next time, bye bye butterfly!

leap of faith
i understand that we have to literally
start from the bottom to get to the top.
what i didn't know was how crappy
the bottom actually was. :(
one thing about myself is that, i know i
have the potential and heart to do what i really
want and love to do.
again and again i bring it up because to this day
i still can't overcome the fear and nervousness
of taking the leap.
what if the odds aren't in my favor?
i think the word i'm looking for is safe. yeah,
i like to know that i'm going to be safe.
struggling is a really touchy subject for me.
sometimes struggling gets you where you want to
be, but i can't do it. it's too scary.
i always ask for signs. but either i'm not looking
hard enough or i'm really being punished.
maybe i'll get where i need to be. and go where
i'm meant to go. someday.
i'll take the leap of faith. someday.

will you be my bridesmaid cards
[wedding diy]
i've been slowly working on wedding
related items. everyone who knows me
knows that i'm pretty crafty and whatnot.
i started researching different and
creative ways to ask my girls to be my
bridesmaids. i found these cute little
dress-shaped cards [many different kinds]
asking to be your bridesmaid on etsy.com,
i loved them, they were cheap
[around $3.00] and had a simple classic look.
i almost put in an order for them, then realized
1. i had all the supplies to make them, and
2. i really could make them. so easily! [lol]
here's how:
i needed a dress template for the cards.
i searched on google 'black dress template'
and found this:
i then copied this template on cardstock
in one of my wedding colors, so that way
i just cut out the little dresses.
i wanted it to look 'fun' so i added the ribbon
and drew a little bow at the sweetheart plunge.
then the girls names of course!
here's the end result!
i made four of them, but i gave them away
before i took a damn photo of them all together!
[tina is my older sister].
[bridesmaids are my two older sisters
and my two younger cousins].

date nights in a jar [may]
hello, hello!
here's your monthly scoop of
date nights in a jar for may!
[i'm one week late because i wanted
to post about the big hair ball during
the same weekend, so sorry!]
1. skywalks
one thing about des moines that i love,
even though, yes it is tiny. is downtown.
i love how all the buildings are connected by
skywalks, so chris and i decided to
walk through them.
2. his choice for anything
chris and i kind of did this last minute. lol!
we went to a small restaurant called bianci boys
pizza and pasta. then went to the casino,
prairie meadows. no, we didn't win big. :(
3. jump on trampolines
i heard about this place called skyzone from a
friend. it's a huge trampoline place with a foam pit,
basketball hoops and a big jumping arena. [they
even have dodgeball tournaments!] chris and i
had a blast. we were so tired by the end of the day!
4. dirty dice
chris and i bought a dirty dice pack at spencers.
let's just leave it at fun, interesting and sexy.
5. video game day
chris knew what he wanted to play since he loves
his games. we decided on a wii game since we haven't
used it in a while. we played warioware: smooth moves
and dead space: extraction.

big hair ball 2013
the big hair ball is, obviously,
what it sounds like. but not so much a ball.
[to me and chris, anyway].
to me it was a house party/soiree type event.
it was mingling. it was snacks and drinks.
the highlight of the night was the
show, which was the reason for the whole night,
showcasing all the crazy big hair local salons came up with.
the theme was
masquerade: a forbidden fairytale.
it was an okay experience. it was very crowded,
the art center is a little too small for such
a big event. not a lot of people were wearing masks,
or in on the 'forbidden fairytale' theme.
it takes away from all the fun of 'ball' feel
that i really wanted.
chris and i were also vip's and all we got were
a small bag of shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray.
the plus was guaranteed front seating at the show and a
$20.00 gift certificate to aveda.
overall, it was fun to get out and do something
but, i wish it went more with the theme of the title.

anonymous letters
alongside my previous post
called 'therapeutical writing' i
decided to post one of the
anonymous letters that i've written.
you see, anonymous letters are a form of
my therapeutical writing and coping.
the meaning of these anonymous letters
are to free me from things that maybe someone
has said or done to me.
it's not always the answer to confront the
issue head-on. so, i cope with the issue
in this way, this form. my little scraps of paper.
here's an anonymous letter i wrote a
few weeks ago, i've found it in my pile of stuff,
it's my raw writing:
"it's really very upsetting when someone who
knows you... who has known you... all their lives puts
so little faith in who you truly are.
i know you don't like him and even though
it's been so long and i can't even remember why anymore
and it still to this day hurts me
somewhere deep, deep, inside...
i still want you to be a part of everything.
i want you to care. i might not show my feelings
as obviously as you do about certain things,
but that is just how we are.
i can't bear it sometimes because you think
i do things despite you. you should know me better
than that. honestly. it's never the intention,
even though i have really bad timing and
it appears like i am. you have no idea how much i try to
make you as well as everyone else happy.
even over my own happiness.
maybe you should be the one to understand for
once and try and let down your guard.
the fight is almost gone in me to help you, help me."

therapeutical writing
they say writing is a great form of therapy...
i do agree. i have scraps of paper everywhere
with my thoughts, dreams and ideas on them.
[i have a regular journal. i even have an art journal].
but why is it that whenever i try to
transfer my thoughts to paper, i can't.
it takes days, sometimes hours.
things sound so right and logical. then i process
it all out in writing. and it's all wrong.
it's not really capturing the moment and the
feelings that i want them to.
i feel like i'm battling two versions
of myself. a mental and physical part of me
that can't get along.
i truly wish that writing would heal all the pain
and everything i didn't want to deal with.
but at least it helps sort through all the things
swirling and suffocating me in my head.
i still can't really explain what i'm trying to say. :[

12 May 2013
and so it begins...
yesterday was the start of my
wedding dress shopping craziness.
i went with a friend of mine from work,
named tamie. love her! lol!
we started at a small shop in valley junction,,
[a tiny little olden day vintage-made town], called
selina's bridal. it was my first bridal
shop stop because i didn't want to go to a bigger
shop first and be overwhelmed from not knowing what to do.
it wasn't terrible...
the staff was nice, but there wasn't too many
gowns to chose from, just mostly ball gown styles.
i wanted to try on different styles
to see what flattered my body type. but at least
i do like ball gown styles! that was a plus.
oh well... like i said it wasn't terrible and
the staff was nice.
we then went to david's bridal. i honestly
have to say that even before i was engaged i wasn't
to big a fan of the shop. it's always busy and hectic.
well, tamie and i show up without an appointment,
we just browsed at the gowns.
we both were pretty upset because nothing really
stood out and everything looked really old.
i guess i am kind of glad that i
didn't have an appointment, i would just wasted time.
i have another appointment this wednesday at
a bigger store... wish me more luck!
wedding dress shopping craziness.
i went with a friend of mine from work,
named tamie. love her! lol!
we started at a small shop in valley junction,,
[a tiny little olden day vintage-made town], called
selina's bridal. it was my first bridal
shop stop because i didn't want to go to a bigger
shop first and be overwhelmed from not knowing what to do.
it wasn't terrible...
the staff was nice, but there wasn't too many
gowns to chose from, just mostly ball gown styles.
i wanted to try on different styles
to see what flattered my body type. but at least
i do like ball gown styles! that was a plus.
oh well... like i said it wasn't terrible and
the staff was nice.
we then went to david's bridal. i honestly
have to say that even before i was engaged i wasn't
to big a fan of the shop. it's always busy and hectic.
well, tamie and i show up without an appointment,
we just browsed at the gowns.
we both were pretty upset because nothing really
stood out and everything looked really old.
i guess i am kind of glad that i
didn't have an appointment, i would just wasted time.
i have another appointment this wednesday at

date nights in a jar [april]
here's our date nights in a jar for april!
1. all things cajun date
chris and i went to a small restaurant on the
south side of town called fat tuesday.
it was one of those hole-in-the-wall
type places. it was delicious! i had gumbo and chris
ordered jambalaya and gator bites.
2. make a time capsule and open in 5 years
i purchased an old vintage suitcase [see it on
my instagram: [candyxgram]].
and chris and i threw in a few things we would
love to discover again in the future!
shhh, we can't tell!
3. classic movie night
we went all crazy and bought junk food, wine and
pizza. we both chose the movie
breakfast at tiffany's because we both
have never seen it and i love tiffany and co. and
chris likes audrey hepburn.
4. donate to a good cause
to be honest with this one we didn't exactly
know where to start. we didn't just want to donate
money to a random charity. so, we thought...
maybe a care package to the military!
it was fun finding the stuff to send to them. i
really hope they enjoy it!
until next time...

not so good at the whole friendship thing
i've never been good at being someone's friend.
maybe that's the reason why i can't
really say i have all that many.
it's not so much me as a person, but more like
it's always me that has to initiate conversation
and it's always me that has to suggest something.
i know. i know it sounds so selfish.
it's so true though... i want to be the one invited
sometimes and i want to be the one who is relaxed
and waiting for someone to talk to me first.
i've never truly ever kept a friend. we're all sort
of just acquaintances now, we just say hi when we see each
other and converse through social media, that's it.
i don't know. maybe it's the whole 'going out and
partying' that i've messed up on. is that what i need
to do in order to keep a friend? but why does it always have
to resort to that kind of thing? why can't we have
lunch or something? it's not exactly fun but it is something.
i do wish i did have a best friend. really.
it feels like such an important part of a woman's life.

depriving?
a part of me feels like i'm
missing out on a part of life that everyone
should experience because i don't really
like to go out and party.
i don't like to get drunk. but i do
drink leisurely from time to time.
yes, i am one of those stay-at-home kind of people.
i have gone out before once, it's just not me.
it's not who i am. it was enjoyable.
but not something i can do all the time.
i do feel like i am depriving chris of everything
he used to love too. maybe that's why i
feel so guilty about never wanting to go out.
not that he loves bars or anything, but he used to love
to dance and he was pretty outgoing. he likes to
stay home with me and the dog now.
i feel like i stripped him of the person he was.
and that's another part of me that i can't let go of,
i can't forgive myself for it.
i know the solution is easy and right in front of me,
let him go out either with or without friends and
go out on the town with him, sometimes.
it's hard for me to want to though, since
like i said, i don't really feel like it's my scene.
we'll work it out. he said he's fine the way things are.
i trust him, but maybe we really can work it out.

lent is over!
i know, i shouldn't be that excited
over it... given i made a healthy lifestyle change
for lent, i gave up candy, cookies, chips,
pretty much all junk food.
but i'm so happy it's over!
and to say the least i was successful
for the whole 40 days of lent!!
go me! :P
let's flashback a few blog posts to the one
called 'lent' published on 26 february 2013.
i started it a little late because i was not fully aware
of what lent really was. so my lent ended this past
sunday, 07 april 2013.
it actually was a lot easier than i thought
considering i love my junk foods! every time i wanted
sweets i just reached for the stuff with natural
sugar in it, for instance, fruits! lol!
[it didn't help chris wanted cupcakes, donuts,
and cookies while i was on lent! men! making
everything so damn difficult!]
it's finally over!
i'm enjoying chocolate and cookies again!
nom nom nom!

date nights in a jar [march]
hello lovelies!
yep you guessed it...
date nights in a jar for march!
[*hooray*] :)
here's the picture:
1. all things vegetarian date [i know it's hard to read]
chris and i went to a newer restaurant
downtown called proof. it was a mediterranean place
but had vegetarian options. we couldn't cheat
because our stick said all things! chris ordered roasted eggplant
and i ordered falafel. we both dislike eggplant but
everything there was soooo good! we plan to return.
2. enjoy a scenic drive
we drove up to ledges state park [about 30 minutes
north of us] and took the backroads
instead of the highway there. it was nice and relaxing.
and a pretty decent day for being winter/spring
season. we used to love to just drive around in our
early days of dating.
3. go shopping and surprise each other [with gifts]
we split up at jordan creek mall and gave
ourselves a limit of no more than $100.00, i got him
the tomb raider game on ps3 and a mint colored
button up from hollister! i heart mint!
he got me a bikini that i really wanted!
4.body painting with icing
lol! this was interesting! i looked up edible
body paint/icing online and saw that there
was some at spencer's gifts, so chris and i
went to go pick some up. :P
[i know there are some at vs but i wanted
something else]. it was a fun night!

jillian michaels detox drink
i'm not going to lie...
i'm extremely addicted to pinterest!
i love finding all those cute random projects
and trying them out myself.
so far, everything i've worked on, such as
covering wine bottles with yarn, to
date night ideas in a jar, and so many other
projects that i've tried and will blog about
later were very successful.
well i recently came across
one that really piqued my interest that
looked like this: <<<<<< [to the left]
being the person that i am, i tried it.
of course i read a few reviews first to
see if something like that
would be worth it.
after some researching, turns out
it really does work!
i saw positive results from other
people who have tried this drink.
so... as you can probably assume
i went and bought everything needed
to make this detox drink.
*
*
*
*
first i bought one of these:
it's a rubbermaid liquid container that holds 64oz.
since the drink calls for 60oz a day,
it's easier this way so you don't have to make extra.
most regular reuseable bottle hold around 32oz.
you can find them at target or walmart.
then i bought these items:
i bought the water, the cranberry juice and the
lemon juice from walmart.
i bought the dandelion root tea from target.
the recipe says use purified water in which
i used the dasani bottled water.
the recipe also calls for sugar free cranberry juice
but there really isn't any because of
the natural sugars in the juice.
just get the kind that says 100% cranberry juice
with no sugar added, it works the same.
i also just bought pre-squeezed lemon juice
because i didn't want the fuss of trying to squeeze
out the 2 tablespoons of the juice.
to tell you the truth... this drink doesn't
taste delicious. it's a bit on the sour side
but it's not horrible.
i didn't change my diet either!
the only thing i can say that i didn't like
about the drink is i peed a lot! :P
also the weight you can lose varies,
it says you can lose up to 5 pounds but also
more or less than that.
i weighed myself before and after i drank
this detox drink. i lost 6 pounds! go me!

lash extensions
i love long, lush lashes!
so when i heard about lash extensions
my inner beauty queen screamed
'i kind of want to try them out.'
my friend/coworker and i researched a few
places and the quality of the salons.
sadly we didn't find one cheap enough.
all were around [$225.00-$250.00] we were pretty sad.
luckily, my cousin had friends who work at a salon
that i've actually never heard of. amore salon and spa.
i called them for price inquiries and it was $95.00
which isn't bad considering the other prices we found.
here's my lashes before:
and my lashes after:
it's strange that they glue the extensions directly
onto your real lashes and you can't feel them!
i really like them, it's nice not to have
to put on strip false lashes.
i do have to admit that these lashes
are really hard to take care of. guess
that's kind of one negative.
i give it a 8.5 out of 10 for care, natural look
overall look and application process.

temporary vacation?
rumor says that my job is almost at its tail end.
part of me doesn't care that it's almost
done, and the other part is freaking out.
the part that doesn't care is telling me that
i'll have more time to plan the wedding
and time for other things that i
never really had the time for.
the part that's freaking out is screaming,
'you need money to pay for the wedding you want.
you also need money for your bills!'
[why am i always fighting with myself?]
i don't have any job lined up for after this
whole nightmare of a temporary job ends.
i was told when i got hired, that the job i work at now,
was temporary to hire.
6 months into working for the company i get told
the job is just strictly contractor
which means its done when its done.
i felt so used and lied to. but i had nothing else.
and almost a year and a half later...
still so very much confused. :(
i've sent out more than 50 applications and
i've only gotten denial email after denial email.
it is a bit depressing.
chris keeps telling me i'll be okay.
i want to believe in that but it's really hard!
i am being positive about this situation
in every way i can.
i just hope i'm jobless for one week max. no less, no more.
chris was joking that it's a temporary vacation
and that would be nice!

date nights in a jar [february]
hello everyone!
time sure does fly when you're
having fun. [and getting older :) ]
it's time for your monthly update
on chris and i's date nights for february.
here's a picture of the dates we picked for february:
1. dinner for him
chris got to decide whether we should go out
to eat, or for me to cook a dinner for him. of
course he chose me to cook for him!
he chose to eat tangy beef brisket with
baked beans and cheese bread!
2. draw each other
we were originally supposed to go to a cafe and
do this but every time we tried it was busy.
so we drew each other at home hanging out on the couch,
it was fun because we've never really
drew portraits. we really didn't do too bad!
3. go to an arcade
we drove up to ames and ate at our favorite chinese
restaurant called chinese home style cooking.
and after went to the newly
built arcade/bowling alley called perfect games.
it was fun and dean, my brother,
came with us. we are all competitive so we got crazy!
4. paint on coffee mugs
technically, we drew on coffee mugs with
various colored sharpies. chris drew our dog charlee,
with all her toys.
and i drew chip from beauty and the beast. [see
it on my instagram, listed on the right side of the
main page]
can't wait to see what next month brings!
until then... see you later!

lent
i didn't grown up in a family that
followed certain traditions.
so i never really knew what lent was,
just kind of a word of mouth type thing.
hearing it from classmates, friends, and tv.
i was aware that it was giving up something
for a short period of time. so, typical curious person who
doesn't know something; i googled it to see what it was. lol.
i understand i am i bit late for starting it since
technically you're supposed to start it on ash wednesday
so it typically ends on easter or the day beforehand.
i also understand it lasts 40 days.
but nonetheless, i decided to give it a try.
i am giving up soda, which will be easy because
i don't drink it too much anyway and also any kind of junk food.
that means chocolate, chips, candy,
and all other junk like that.
it starts tomorrow. the countdown begins.
wish me luck!
[everytime i update, i will have the countdown at the
bottom of the screen, unless of course i don't make it to
the whole 40 days]

collection:
victoria beckham magazines
as you all will soon find out and see,
i love to collect stuff!
i will be sharing most of everything i collect with you.
and i'm starting with my
victoria beckham magazines!
[i collect them because she's my idol!] i [heart] her!
she's beautiful! she's a fashion icon!
she's a designer of clothing! her husband is
gorgeous! lol!
she was a spice girl!!
and she's just so talented!
i don't have much yet, just three magazines
because i sort of started collecting them without
really realizing i did it. :P
chris and i love barnes and noble, we go there
quite a bit. i love magazines, books, and the
little toys and trinkets that they sell there!
it's also kind of nice that i love fashion magazines too!
the best of both worlds!
here are the three that i have right now:
there are so many magazines that victoria beckham
has been on! i have a ways to go to getting the few that i do want!
i even found a magazine from japan with her on it! so cool!
i must have it! lol!

gorgeous! lol!
she was a spice girl!!
and she's just so talented!
i don't have much yet, just three magazines
because i sort of started collecting them without
really realizing i did it. :P
chris and i love barnes and noble, we go there
quite a bit. i love magazines, books, and the
little toys and trinkets that they sell there!
it's also kind of nice that i love fashion magazines too!
the best of both worlds!
here are the three that i have right now:
there are so many magazines that victoria beckham
has been on! i have a ways to go to getting the few that i do want!
i even found a magazine from japan with her on it! so cool!
i must have it! lol!

chain reaction
it's just a chain reaction of things
going on that are stopping chris and i from moving
forward in our lives.
i'm starting to get rather frustrated!
starting with our living situation,
we want to move but we would love to move
into a house and it's going to be my first home
so i have every right to be picky!
but we also just got engaged and we need to save money
for that because i want a pretty big fancy wedding!
that also falls on my job.
i don't have a secure job yet and that
kind of makes me nervous about the upcoming events.
i am very thankful i am still employed, have a roof over
my head and have a fiancé who has a good job.
i just hope i can iron out these wrinkles soon.
wish us luck!

date nights! [in a jar]
on the 13 january 2013 blog entry, called
event of the month - year 2012
i mentioned a new idea
i found on pinterest: date night in a jar!
january was pretty much our 'test run' with
whether we would like the idea or just trash it.
*drum roll please* turns out we loved it!
to get into more depth on what it is...
i filled a jar with popsicle sticks that say:
'all things mexican date'
'get a couples massage'
'go out for ice cream' and so on.
[i also had chris put in some of his own ideas
so it would be fair]
then you go out [or stay in :) ] and do what the sticks say!
we take turns choosing the sticks!
i put enough 'date ideas' in the jar for
once a week for a year, chris and i choose a stick
every thursday.
it's really fun and gets you to do things that
you've never done and also redo things to re-spark that flame!
i was really pleased and surprised chris
loved the idea.
here's a picture of the dates we picked in january:
1. go to an antiques shop
-we went to a cute small antiques shop downtown called
found things and after that we walked two shops
down and ate some sushi at miyabi 9!
2. go to a winery
-we went to dinner with chris' mother and sister
at legends and then walked one store down to
a wine shop called winestyles
and tasted 6 different wines for free! yay coupons!
3. all things thai date
-we went to a restaurant called taste of thai downtown!
it was yummy!
4.make postsecrets
-it's one of my favorite books by frank warren
[don't know what it is? look it up!] www.postsecret.com
i love how it's so artsy [like me!]
5. buy karaoke and sing [i know it's hard to read in the photo]
-we bought a $5.00 disney hit songs game at gamestop
and sang our butts off! chris beats me every time!
we think it's the best $5.00 we spent! ;)
more date nights coming in late february and early march!
